The DEK 9HP Petrol Engine 2:1 Reduction is built for applications where a standard horizontal shaft engine is too fast and you need more usable low-end torque. With its integrated 2:1 reduction gearbox, this engine is a practical option for machinery and drive systems that benefit from a slower output speed and stronger pulling power, making it a good fit for workshop, farm and contractor use across New Zealand. 

This model runs a DEK 9hp 270cc 4-stroke single-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine and is rated at 8.8hp @ 3600rpm, with the reduction setup giving an 1800rpm shaft output. It is fitted with both electric and recoil start, which gives you flexibility depending on how the engine is being used. The engine also uses a horizontal 25.4mm keyway shaft with counter clockwise PTO output direction, along with TCI ignition and a low oil level cut sensor for added protection. 

The product page also lists a 5.5 litre fuel tank, 380mm x 430mm x 410mm dimensions, 70dB(A) noise level at 7 metres, and a 25kg weight, giving you a useful balance of output and manageable size. DEK also notes the use of quality NTN / NSK bearings and a cast sleeved engine, which helps support longer-term durability.
